USA NATIONAL ULTRA CHAMPIONSHIPS ANNOUNCED FOR 2003
 

At the recently concluded USA Track & Field Annual Convention in Kansas City, the Mountain/Ultra/Trail-Running Council (MUT) announced a new slate of national championships and award winners. Chad Rickefs and Ann Heaslett received the Ted Corbitt and Ruth Anderson awards, respectively, as the outstanding U.S. ultrarunners of 2002. Roy Pirrung and Ann Trason were named U.S. masters (age 40+) ultrarunners of the year (for photo, click here. Also, four events were designated as USA National Ultra Championships for 2003. In chronological order, they are: White River 50 Mile Trail (early August); Headlands 50km Trail (late August); Olander Park 100 Mile Road (mid-September); and San Diego 1-Day 24-Hour Track (mid-November).
